lying for a living

Attagirl, Mom

February 26, 2008 · 9 Comments

From a phone conversation with my mother yesterday:

Me: How are you?

Mom: I’m all right - but how’s that cold you’ve got? Are you feeling better?

I shook my head and laughed. She had just come out of knee replacement surgery.

But why was I surprised? She planned the op for this week so she’ll have time to get fighting fit before the arrival of a new grandbaby and her next trip to England. And if this story is to be believed, she’s a whole lot tougher than Prince.

Here’s to quick healing, Mom! I know your years at Gold’s Gym will come in handy as you throw your body back into fighting fitness!

And Meg…your penultimate sentence is a bit confusing…is there a connection between the arrival of a new grandbaby and her trip to England? Inquiring minds want to know….

Snart - No No No. Meg should have made it clear that her brother and sister-in-law are expecting. NOT US! Let’s not start rumours, especially that one. (Our other children would flip out!)

Oh, and we do look forward to Meg’s mom coming for a visit in June.

Aw, Husband…I weep. I was so looking forward to a little Ferd. Sigh.

I refuse to have a younger brother named Ferd. Or sister, if that’s what you’re thinking, Snart!

Oh no, a sister would be Anita…

Fan yourselves, folks. Cool down and step away from the baby name books. Cut out the caffeine while you’re at it.

    Mom: get well soon!

mom2bnsb…we’re all counting the days! Be sure that Meg puts up notice of the arrival of babydonecome!

Kate, the name Ferd has great significance in British history…no, wait, that was Arthur. Hmmm, I’ve heard the name Ferd somewhere….
