Here’s a request, because I’m going to be offline for most of the day: Can those of you commenters out there who have uploaded an avatar image explain the best way to do that? Some other folks would like to add an avatar for their own comments.

I believe there are a few ways an avatar can be added. But Gravatar is probably the easiest way.

If you already have a WordPress ID (or blog) and it’s the same email address as the one you use here, your avatar should automatically be displayed.
With Gravatar you can upload several gravatars, use one of theirs or get one from the internet. Also, if you have a blog or website, you can have your username here hyperlink to your site.
I have a couple of avatars which I use for different purposes. How would I add one here that I could access and change as the mood moves me?
Rich, I’m not absolutely certain, but I think it can be done only with a WordPress ID or a Gravatar Account.
Gravatar (the simplest way, in my experience) does allow for the storage of multiple avatars. All you would have to do is set up a free account and upload and/or choose your avatars. You could then select which one you would like to use.
I’m hoping a power-user chimes in with some advice – my experience is limited. But I think Gravatar is your best shot. It’s free and easy to use.
I looked at that last year, or maybe longer, and my impression was it would supersede any of the other blogging sites I am on with whatever happened to be the choice at the time. So I decided against that. I suppose I’ll just wait until the technology catches up to the desires.
Another option would be to sign up to Gravatar using an alternate email address (gmail, yahoo) and then use that email address here. Sounds like a lot of work to go through just for an avatar, though.
