Writing Rocks — Now and Forever

To say 2020 has not gone as expected… yeah, no kidding. I hope you’re all holding up. We’re going to get through this, and light is actually showing at the end of the tunnel.

Amid all the uncertainty and difficulty and overwhelming disruption that this year has poured over us, I was reminded that some things are always true. And I was reminded in the best way, by a gift from my littlest fan, who made me this bracelet.

Writing rocks. Always has. Always will.

And I’m beyond lucky that I get to express my creativity through writing.

Here’s to 2021.

  1. Hello Meg! Hope this sees you well. Way behind on your books but will remedy that soon. Had a whole year to really sit and read –time enough at last — but instead I girded my loins, painted my face blue and sang the song of my people. I watched your daughter on jeopardy. Is there a post here about her experience? I’m sure that was bittersweet in many ways. I miss your humor and wish I was motivated to be one of the cool kids by joining Twitter. We could smoke cigarettes (I don’t smoke but we could fake it), tell each other outrageous lies, put Becky’s bra in the freezer while crying about our boyfriends, play light as a feather, stiff as a board and have oh so much f un. Too old for that now? Perhaps. I fondly look back at your contests. I had so much damn fun with those. Congratulations on all the good things in your life. Be good. Use your big brains. Play well with others.

    • Dana Jean! How wonderful to hear from you. Thanks for checking in. I hope you’re catching up on your reading at last (😃). And I appreciate your fond memories of the blog contests. It may be time to revive them. And I should write an update on the contest photo that featured a monkey in a cowboy hat riding a dog. Since posting it, I have learned that Whiskey the Rodeo Monkey is a genuine star. He has management. I’ve met his lawyer. No lie.

Take care and keep me posted!

  2. I didn’t win that year, but my entry for that one was my favorite. I think that’s the one with the skanky ol’ bay.

Yes, you must give us “the rest of the story.”

  3. Oh wait, wait wait — you’re talkin’ book monkey — i was thinking chihuahua dog with hat during the contest!

    I loved that damn monkey.

  4. Oh my lord. I completely forgot about that one!!!!

Okay, I make myself laugh. I’m sorry. I know that’s not cool to admit, but I do.

So much fun. You should do them again. Even if there is nothing to win but some good laughs.
